Billy Tun

Billy graduated from University College London in 1995 and joined RBJL as a trainee in 1996. He became a partner in 2008. He was awarded the Peter Mark Prize by the Hong Kong Society of Notaries for obtaining the highest aggregate marks in the two notary examination papers taken in 2008.
Billy acts for numerous claimants in employees’ compensation and personal injury cases and handles simple injury to complex multi-million dollar claims.
He also handles a wide range of commercial disputes including, shareholders dispute among family members, minority shareholders protection, breach of directors’ duties, securities and investment dispute, agency dispute, unlawful discrimination, employment dispute, breach of guarantees and sales of goods dispute. He advises clients on SFC, CCB, ICAC and C&E investigations and prosecutions.
Billy is frequently asked to advise on and handles various contentious and non-contentious I.P. matters involving registered trade mark, copyright, patent, design, passing off, confidentiality and restrictive covenants issues.
He acts for major record companies as well as licensing bodies in Copyright Tribunal cases and advises on copyright licensing and infringement issues. He also advises contractual, commercial and I.P. issues in the entertainment industry.
Billy advises venture capitalists on I.P. due diligence and strategies in M&A deals as well as technology transfer in JV deals. He also advises on debt re-structuring of multi-national group companies and also deals with applications for Certificate of Hong Kong Service Supplier under the Mainland and Hong Kong “CEPA”.
He also regularly represents patients in medical and dental mistreatment cases. He also advises applications under the Mental Health Ordinance, Enduring Power of Attorney, Guardian Board applications and health insurance claims.
Billy is a regular speaker in seminars organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Industries.
